MG MGF Technical - Price of Hydra-gas pump up, and key fob programmin
Reading the threads on here, it appears my suspension is way too low, so when going over the horrible 'single lump in road' type of speed hump, something will scrape unless I go really slowly. Anyway, what is a typical price to pay for a pump up for the MGF? Also, I have bought a new key fob, and need it (both) re-programming, what is a typical cost of that? And any recommendations for a garage to do it in the Leicesterhire area? Thanks alan. |

any good local garage will be able to pump up the suspension for about 20/30 GBP, keyfobs are probably going to cost you though, I'd be expecting 60->120GBP and you can only get it done at a rover dealer |

>keyfobs Those for the MGF are from second hand available frequently. Even Nissan Micra's from back in 1996 are used to use the same one. Adaption to the individual car as said, at a Rover Dealer only. |

Is this a dealer (X-Part) only item? I'd have thought that anyone with access to Testbook could do it (which I appreciate, probably largely does mean a dealer) |

The square black type fobs are readily available second hand. Make sure that the button switches are in good condition and that the battery connections are firmly soldered to the PCB if you do buy second hand. New cases can be bought from your local XPart dealer, and they will be cheaper than most eBay listings ;) These fobs can be easily reprogrammed to a new car, unlike the round type fobs. In order to program a round type key fob to a car you MUST have the correct bar code supplied with it. If the wrong number is supplied when programming the fob the alarm control unit will lock down and the car will not be able to be driven. A new SCU and 2 key fobs will be required to get the car moving again (over £500 for parts). You have been warned! |

Just got two new fobs programmed by a mobile auto locksmith, cost £90 for the first and £40 for any thereafter, so cost me £130. MG dealer quoted me £160 for one, and £70 for the second. So its worth ringing around... |

I charge £47 for each square type key fob, plus £32.31 to program one or more fobs to a single car. |

I am sure that I saw a program thing available on Ebay, but do not know how it works. Anyone used them. Brian |
