MG MGF Technical - Problems with unlocking

Recently almost every time I try and unlock the car with the blipper the driver's door remains locked. I have to relock it and then unlock it to get in. It's never failed to unlock on the second attempt so far. Has anyone else had simliar problems or know of a simple fix? Or should I take it to a garage?

rob, could it be time to change the battery in the remote/fob?

Rob,
Does the passenger door unlock ok?

Definitely not the battery ... been happening on mine for quite some time now ... haven't got round to sorting it out.

I'm about to buy my 3rd F. Both my two previous cars, both bought brand new, one in Sept 01 (1.8mpi) and one in Mar 02 (Trophy 160), had a "central locking solenoid" failure. When unlocking the door using the remote fob, the door (drivers) would unlock, and then immediately lock itself again. Had to get in through the passenger door.
When I test drove my new MGF Trophy (which I collect on Friday), I was taking it to my Dad's engineering company for him to check it over (this one is not new - 4000 miles on it) which is in Burnley. Being such a nice area (not!) I locked the doors using the pin, with me inside, whilst driving along. When I parked up, the damn thing wouldn't unlock (same issue), leaving me trapped inside, and this time it was both doors. Eventually I got the passenger door to unlock, and I was OK!!
Needless to say, this is something that will be fixed before Friday.
However, the problem with the CL Solenoid is common with MY2000 onwards MGFs, so my dealer tells me.

My TF160 occasionally fails to unlock the drivers door. I intend to mention it at the first service.

I had the 'relocking itself' syndrome as well BUT it was my fault, I had replaced the door pins with Mikes polished ally jobs and I had bent the rod slightly causing the pin to stick in the down position BUT only when pushed not when electronically pulled, as a consequence when I locked the doors from inside (as one does in this part of the world) when using the blipper to unlock they would unlock then lock again immediately - OK once I redid the job!

Ted's experience fits in with other posts in the past. If the locked mechanism is stiff for any reason it defaults to the locked position. You might find that a squirt of WD40 around the pin cures the problem.

Mine does this occasionally. It always opens on the second try though. I think it will not unlock from the fob the first time if someone tries the door handle whilst it's locked, or I could be wrong.

I had this problem as well, very similar story to Ted ;-)

What happened on mine was the wire leading up to the door pin, was gettting trapped in the locking mechanism.

Decided it was a safety hazard, so removed them.
and replaced with plastic grommets from halfords.

mines started to do the wont unlock the drivers door on 1st attempt and then opens on 2nd attempt. i have noticed that it only does it when i arm the dead locks(2 presses on the keyfob) and you here funny clicking coming from in the doof.
