MG MGF Technical - PRT

Does anyone know what date MGR starting fitting the PRT to TF's from - or otherwise what chassis number?
Mike

Dieter's your man, but some time during 2003 is the simple, if somewhat vague answer
Rob Bell

Some say it's since 4D622951 (CVT related), or other say 4D619000, with model year 2004 start up in August 2003.

Same vague, and not from first hand information.
Dieter

I was told (reliable source with factory connections) that the PRT was introduced onto the production line from Jan 03, but cars with it certainly seemed not to reach the streets until much later. I was searching for the parts for over a year before getting my hands on PRT and hoses.
Dave Livingstone

Dave, this directs to VIN 3D614000 obviously.
Unfortunately our surveys regarding *Who has, who hasn't* failed in last year, cause of lack of interest of the MG TF owners.

Anyway, I'll correct to Jan 03 on my site.
Dieter

Thanks everyone. I bought my TF160 new in July 05, I knew it had been sitting around for some time (not withstanding a three month shipping from UK to NZ) but on checking the chassis plate I found it came out of the factory on 11 Nov 2003, so wondered if it had the PRT or not. I'll check my chassis number against those above!
Mike

Those who know; where as a matter of interest, did the factory fitted PRTs get located within the cooling system. They must be fairly readily identifiable and Mike will be able to check with absolute certainty(and some of us will get firmer ideas for future plans....:o)...)

PRT is located between the coolant outlet from the cylinder head to the underfloor coolant pipe, an obvious plastic housing with several hose connection points.

yup looking at the front of the engine the PRT is a big white plastic thing with three large bore pipe connections connected between the send from the engine and the two pipes from the radiator, if you only have two rubber pipes there then you don't have the prt
