MG MGF Technical - PRT where do I get one?

Ok guys I called Trident spares and they didnt know what a PRT is!

SO where do I get one. Is it a true OEM item or it is more snake oil?

Neil

It is a true OEM item. You should be able to get the parts from an X-Part or Land Rover dealer. Eliseparts also do a PRT kit for the Elise, but I dont know if this would fit an F too?

Have a look on the EPC on Deiter's site ( http://www.mgfcar.de/index.htm )for the part numbers. Its under Cooling>Cooling pipes & hoses>PRT.

Hi guy's & girls,
I have just bought a late 2004 TF 135 (12000 mls).I'm not new to Mg's but I am to MGF/TF's.I know there have been HGF problems ,(I had'nt realised how many untill I read the archives !).Head banging stuff, no pun intended ! Showing my ignorance , what's a PRT , and do I need one,or have the later TF's been sorted ? What, if any, modifications have been made to the later TF's. One last thing - is the B&G coolant level sensor worth fitting & is it relatively easy to fit & would it effect any waranty ?
Sorry about so many questions but would appreciate it if anyone has the answers.

Hi Ken,

Firstly, welcome aboard!

Regarding the PRT, hopefully this will help with some of your questions: http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/group2/common_problems/hgf_pages/cooling_system_modifications.htm

As your TF is an '04 model, there is a chance it already has one. Check your car's VIN - the PRT was fitted from 4D622951 ...
Rob Bell

Hi Rob,
Thanks for your info, very helpful !
Would you consider a B&G coolant level sensor appropriate also?
Have'nt picked the car up yet but will check the VIN when I do.

Sorry if I seem a bit thick but I have been looking at Rob Bell's website - (very impressive by the way)and I have only just realised that there seem to be 2 types of thermostat I could buy for my MGF.
I was all set to order the PRT from Full Throttle Racing but is this the same as the one from QED motorsport? (Remote thermostat) I don't think so.
My MGF lives in London, and I would like to drive fast on the open road all the time but the day to day use of the car is in traffic. I would just like confirmation of which one I should get.
