Do Rover use this ?

Well if they do they would need to brush up a little. If they don't then they should !

Why ?

Because the monkey that put my rear left hub nut on obviously doesn't know what a torque wrench is.

Why ?

My bloody wheel nearly fell off ! At least 1/2 inch of play in the hub. Interesting driving I can tell you, NOT.

I jest you not. Even better than that, you know how they are supposed to dent the nut in the key way of the drive shaft well surprise surprise they didn't bother.

Any chance of a new set of brake disks Mr. Rover ? to replace the knackered rear left disk. No I thought as much.

Fools !

OMG!!!!!

Glad to hear that you discovered this before anyone got hurt Stephen!
Rob Bell

Surprising thing is I was belting round corners and even did a 210 mile trip on it the day before I finally decided to look at the car.

You have to admit a loose hub nut is not the first thing that comes to mind. What finally drove me to look at it was the heat of the wheel.

I have to admit I was lazy but good God I have never ever had that happen before.

Still want a new set of disks from Rover though !

Scary stuff - persue it with Rover for all our sakes!
Tim Jenner

I think Rover were one of the first to use a quality standard.

I remember a motoring mag tested a Rover 800 and a Saab 9000 against that quality standard.
The Rover lost more than 80 points against the standard. The Saab lost precisely three-quarters of a point.

I'm just glad MGR don't build aircraft !

Longbridge was used to build Spitfires and Lancasters Steve... ;o)

Good point - Rover also did a lot of good work on gas turbine / jet engine development.
But all that is a long time ago.

The magazine (I think it was 'Car') article was about their quality standard (well before the ISO 9000 series) and how their finished article didn't measure up to it - but a competitors did.

Being in Farnborough this week needs considerable faith in some of the machinery around here !

Err I hate to say this as my father was in the airforce but if spitfires were like F's we would of lost !
