MG MGF Technical - Racing MGF around old Nurburgring

Hi Folks,

I'm gonna post some pictures soon from my extended weekend trip through germany with stopover to a Hillclimb and the old Nurburgring. The nurburgring is surely the most dangerous racetrack there is. I took my F (mpi) around the track 5 times followed by a trophy who almost lost it in the first lap and than tried to catch up but never did so. I was overtaken by some nice M5's, M3's, Lotus 7's, Elise's, Porsches, Ferraris and plenty of Bikes and Lunatics in general!! After the second round I had the oil at 150 degrees and the tyres (Potenza 070) so hot that heat bubbles formed on top. I have to say that if you want very good road tyres with the Racing edge go for Bridgestones! I was very surprised how well the F handles in extreme situations and pushing it to the absolute limit pulling about 2-3G's on some parts of the track and 4 wheel sliding around corners flatout in 2nd gear. Driving the Karussell was the best of all with 2nd gear flatout going around the lefthand banked track!!! Awesome G force!

Pictures will follow soon!

Hi Jorg.

It will be defenitively nice to see those pictures.

One question arises my mind: Does anyone ever tried to install a lateral accelerometer in a MGF?
And try it with different set-ups?

Cheers, Valter.

And for those that want more than pictures - no insult intended Jorg - join our Treffen 2002:-

The Nürburgring is just one of many highlights for us on this 11 day extravaganza across Belgium, Germany to Berlin (for the Berlin MG Treffen)and back through Holland with a night in Amsterdam.

I have to agree that the Nurburgring is an astonishing bit of road! ;o) HUGE fun!

I wanna go back!!!

Next time, I hope I don't get held up by bikes and Porsches... ;o) ;o) ;o)

Jorg - look forward to seeing your pix! :o)

Due to 'overload' they inform me! Should be OK once all the MGF idiots go away:-)
