MG MGF Technical - rattle resolved
You may remember that I had an ongoing problem with a rattle at about 3000 revs, well after 4 returns to the dealer, it appears to have been resolved. Apparently, the water pipes running from the engine to the radiator had "come loose" somewhere in the tunnel. This apparently has to be accessed from within the car (??). Hope this is of use as I know 3 or 4 others have similar sounding problems. Oh and the dealer is now trying to tell me that the super dooper cover all warranty he sold me in march doesnt actually cover this bit..........we shall see |

Sounds good to me.... but where inside the car to you gain access to these pipes? Thanks, Andrew. |

Oh yes the Warranty will cover this just call Longbridge |

The pipes run through the transmission tunnel, you might be able to get access if you take out the cubby box? Tim |

yep thats right tim, they stripped out the cubby box and it appears the bit around the gearstick, as its now sitting slightly off square. as far as the warranty, its a "SEAT" warranty purchased when I bought the car 2nd hand in march (98 VVC). I'm pretty sure it is covered as the warranty even covers certain MoT failure issues. The dealer has been pretty crap throughout so I'm ready for a bit of a row, although I must admit they seem to be doing their best to build me a new car under the warranty, as so far they've replaced the Cam belts, radiator, exhaust and door hinge, as well as sorted numerous other minor niggles. |

A pic of the heater pipes... >> http://www.sfforever.co.uk/viewgallerypicture.asp?id=19-24-64-65-66-67-68-69-70-71-72-73-74-75-76-77-78-79-80-81-82-83-84-85-86-87&queryon=15 << They run to the heater matrix inside the dash, from the engine bay, within the transmission tunnel (next to the gear selector cables).
