MG MGF Technical - Rear Bumper Bump

Hi again all,

Does anyone know where I can get a reasonably priced rear bumper for my '98 F. Long story, but I now have a 206 sized dent in the side of it. I've checked with Maidstone Sports Cars (www.maidstonesportscars.co.uk) who have quoted £460 plus VAT for supply, paint and fit. Does this sound like an ok price or can you think of anywhere cheaper. Bear in mind that I live in Kent, so anywhere within a reasonable distance.

Emma, there are a few on e-bay now, might need painting though!.

Have a word with MGF Centre for a bumper which will be Sub-£200 and sprayed to your colour, then ask a friendly SE F'er to fit it. Fitting will only take 30mins so even if you have to go to a garage it shouldn't cost more than 30 quid to fit.

If you still need a bumper fixing by the time Brands comes along I'm sure I could find some time to fit it for you..... Only problem is you'll need to get the bumper to Brands Hatch. I hope it's a dry day to take the roof off your car....!

All very sexist surely assuming Emma cannot take off and fit a rear bumper. Shame on you all!

I got a second hand bumper painted and fitted at Mike Satur recently after my Mum drove into the front of my MGF. I think it was about half the price of a new one around £90-100 and then fitting and painting etc.

I believe they will post it to you too.

Thanks for all your suggestions guys, you're right though, I have no experience at fitting bumpers, so I don't think my beloved MG would be the best place for me to start.

It's very kind of you to offer Tim, I will be at Brands on the Friday, but it all depends on whether I find a new bumper and have it painted in time.

Right, I've got my email back from the MGF Centre, they sound really good, £190 (including having it colour coded), £15 + VAT for delivery or £35 + VAT for fitting. Just going to wait until Mike Satur get back to me.
