MG MGF Technical - Rear console speakers

I have recently fitted a pair of 5 X 9 Infinity speakers in my rear console as per many ICE web sites. I am not happy with the gap it leaves at the top of the MK1 rear console. Does anyone know if a 2000 rear console will fit a MK1 F and if the speaker housing will allow for a 5 X 9 Infinity speaker.

PS Le Mans was good this year.

Yes, the MY2000 T-bar is a direct swop for the Mk1 item.

Not sure whether the bracketry associated with it will accept a 5 x 9?

I fear that it's 6x4 only- Have you tries to recess the middle of the speaker grills
Will Munns

The std size is 6x4.

I recently fitted Kenwood 4inch speakers and spent ages recess them.

I made a MDF disc the size of the speaker and then carefully cut the holes for the speakers and then marked the outside profile and then hollowed out (dremmel comes in handy) behind the outer plastic until I could fit the wood flush. The outer plastic was cut to allow the wood to be mounted (lots of cut lines so the plastic could be folded out).

The wood was glued inplace with no nails and then the speaker fitted which then held the plastic neatly in place to give a flush fitting effect without any gaps.

Hope you understand this.

Has anyone got an idea what the price of a MK2 T-bar is? (and part number?)
Philip

>>Hope you understand this. <<

Did you take any pix Tom? :o)

Philip, not sure of the part number, but T-bars are also available from Brown and Gammons, Mike Satur (I suspect!) and Autobreakers - from where they cost about 75 quid.

Rob,

No Pictures but can easily take some with & without speaker in place.

I will take some pictures and email them to you.

Cheers Tom - it would be helpful as I plan to recess my speakers too.

Thanks :o)

With Infinity 6 X 9, they do fit, but with too much a gap at the top. If a new rear console could be shaped it would work. Mike Satur - are you there. Of course these would also require to be encapsulated in some type of sound box. Know any good ply workers, and covered with a decent material alike MGA trim is, with some padding underneath it, you have a decent replacement, rather than a massproduced plastic type.
Too much to ask?? Been done already maybe??
