MG MGF Technical - Recalls?

Is there a MG telephone number you can call to find out if a recall has been done on your car. - See my VVC sounds like a diesel for full details.

What information will they require ?

Recall details are inserted into the owners service manual - there is a special page for them at the back - I doubt that MGR would keep a list of who is or isn't done.

My F was subject to a recall - for the seat belt escuchion. No entry was made in the service schedule book. I suspect that the entry would only be made if the owner was thoughtful enough (unlike me) to put the service book in the car prior to leaving it at the dealer.

If your seatbelt escutcheon looks like this:

Note the two screws.

Then your F HAS been recalled.

There OUGHT to be some way of ensuring that all recall work has been performed on your car. Unfortunately, I do not know whether this is possible.

Try calling the factory in Longbridge and ask whether you can talk to someone about this problem...

Just out of interest, was anything else modified in the seat belt recall??

Mine had the old style escutcheons, so I replaced them myself.

Paul, that was it - no additional modifications were made: http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/MGF_recalls.htm#r1

Wasn't there some talk about them doing something to VVCs at the same time. It is a while ago but I seem to remember people speculating, since the time to change the escutcheons seemed to be very long.

I should have scrolled down the recalls page to http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/MGF_recalls.htm#r2, "VVC Cam bolt torque/ failure"

Richard

if you go into a mgr dealership, they will tell you if the recalls have been done of their discus computer.
colin

Colin,

Surprise, surprise - it's not quite as clear cut as that. The dealer that i bought the car from said they had checked and "as fare as we are aware there are no recalls outstanding - but we cant tell you who did the work - it wasn't us by the way"

MG factory keep a record by reg number of the recall work done on each car by recording payment claims for work done under recall by dealers - needless to say the system is full of holes.
