MG MGF Technical - Recommendation for replacement battery

Mines dead again - alarm really drains it if not used more than a few '000 miles. Any recommendations?

Go to a good car accessory shop and let them check your battery to see if it is holding charge or just duff.
If duff, replace wuth the best you can afford. If the battery is OK, do you have a light on somewhere draining the battery or if not this, then start looking at the alternator drive belt or alternator itself.
Most likely cause is a time expired battery.
I am sure that other people will have more information to offer you, as I am still learning from them as well.

Check that interior lights are not staying on - expecially the light in the boot lid. This is notorious for shorting and staying on when the ignition is turned off.

If you have run the battery flat then it is dead and will not hold a proper charge - so whatever happens you need a new battery.

My son has an F is storage whilst he is in Oz. It stays in the garage for 4 to 6 weeks at a time between outings my me. It starts first time. If you F is using power to the point where it drains the battery then their is something wrong. Either the battery has just died of old age (or by being left to run flat) or their is an electricla problem. Suggest you get a new battery and have a car electrician see if the car is drawing too much cuurent when switched off and if so, where that drain is occuring so it can be fixed.

The lights in the rear view mirror killed mine.

Good advice on batteries is to get the best you can afford if you are planning to keep the car. Normally a good battery will have a three year guarantee.

As my car is not used as often as I would like, I also bought a charger which is mounted near the car. When I remember I give the battery an overnight trickle charge.

Mark,
When I replaced my battery a while ago it seemed there were 2 sizes (capacities) listed for the F, I fitted the larger size even though my original was of the smaller capacity.

Big size for VVCs with power steering and ABS small for 1.8i without either - if I remember correctly!
