MG MGF Technical - Remote Thermostat
Had HGF in january.... dont want it to happen again is the TF remote thermostat mod a worthwile investment... if so how much will it cost.. can any garage do it. can it be done on its next service.... many thanks Al.. |

From a number of reports, the answer would appear to be absolutely, yes. The HGF report rate plumeted with the introduction of the PRT - in both TF and in Freelander. Cost may be a valid concern- but the Freelander kit can be fitted to the F, so at least there is some choice on the market place. |

The issues in the Freelander and the F/TF are different and so are the PRT kits. I would suggest getting the TF kit. However, with both it's not a easy job as the access is difficult and will require a coolant change. So again go somewhere that knows the vagueries of teh F/Tf or has the suction kit. |

Easier to fit is the QED remote thermostat although obviously a coolant change will be required. |

Well, a coolant bleed and top up is going to be necessary what ever coolant system modification you have planned. Regarding the LR version of the PRT David, AFAIK it isn't actually all that different from the MG version - and certainly hasn't stopped Elise owners from using it with good effect. :o) I have Carlo's website somewhere - I need to look it up... |

http://web.tiscali.it/elise_s1/index.htm Elise specific installation instructions, but adaptable for MGF/TF :o) |

would just looking after the car suffice, e.g keeping the revs down till oil is warm and good maintenance.. looking to keep costs down, it shouldnt go for another 300000 miles should it!!!!!!!!! |
