MG MGF Technical - removing number plate
Dear all, Thinking about buying a new plate from DVLA, something like W?? MGF. I,ve had a quick look at the front plate on my 2000 F and it appears to be attached by a couple of rivets rather than screws. Does anyone know if this is normal and how you go about replacing the plate with a new one without causing any damage? Many thanks, Simon Andrews. |

Carefully drill the centre of the rivet head until it breaks off. Fit the new plate with two sided sticky pads from Halfrauds. Geoff F. |

Cheers Geoff, Many thanks. |

Hi Simon Check that it is actualy rivets and not domed head galvanised bolts as mine was. They have sometimes been used to make stealing them difficult. Where abouts in West S' are you ? Paul |

Paul, Thanks for that, at first glance they looked like they might undo with an alan key, but don't. Is that what the domed head galvanised bolts look like? I am in Henfield by the way and you? |

Hi Simon No mine were like tiny coach bolts. Small world..........I am in the next village to you Cowfold! Often in The Bull between the two villages or the Royal Oak up on the Downs. There's 6 of us with MG's in Cowfold although only 2 with F's. Mind you with Cowfold having one of the best MG service garages in South its no wonder ! Send me an email if you want to meet up for a run sometime especially something like the Run of the Mills or the Regency Run. Paul |
