MG MGF Technical - Replacing Rear Hub

Due to an over-enthusiastic right foot, a damp road and very worn rear F1's I managed to lose the back end last night.

End result, one knackered rear wheel and a broken hub casting.

I'm intending to replace the hub casting over the weekend & just wondered if anyone knows if there are any hidden pitfalls in this process. Thinking of things like having to press out bearings, special tools required etc.

Any advice or comments gratefully received.

Wish I hadn't put off replacing the rear tyres now!

Nobody got any thoughts??

Looks like a trip into the unknown then...

Check Deiters Website www.lame-delegation.de/mgf-net.de/index.htm , I would expect he has a how to guide on there, he seems to have got one for most things :-)

Mike,

Thanks for the tip - found just what I needed.

... and of course thanks to K Jackson & Dieter for preparing the guide!

... but please use axle stands instead of the 'bricks'.
Like to see you back in good health due to secure works.

Sounds like you had a similar incident to me....Anyway just to let you know what I initially thought was just a knackered wheel and hub turned out to be, knackered...subframe, lower link, upper link, hub, rear tie bar, essentially everything that holds the rear wheel to the car and then the subframe also.
Just to let you know the good news.
Oh and i hope you have better luck than me getting it fixed, am now going to take the car back for the 2nd time since it was repaired due to excessive wear on the outside of the tyre.
Joy!

That's cheered me up!!

There's no sign of any damage to the suspension links or the subframe, but I guess I wont know for sure until I drive it & get it tracked.

Here's hoping...
Chris
