MG MGF Technical - Ride height

Thought my car was down at the front near side. Initially thought it wasn't parked on a flat surface but there is a big difference in the gap from the top of the wing to the wheel. Only had it a week so will take it to the dealer. Will I have any problems driving it?

Thanks Kev

As long as the wheel can turn to full lock in both directions without touching bodywork you should be OK. Is it low enough for the police to consider it a hazard? Drive with care and at your own risk.

Ok, I have read on the ultimate MG site that the ride height should be 368 +/- 10mm. My offside front is 317!!!! That'll teach me to buy it from a non MGR dealer.

Sounds a "bit low" to me Kev. I believe that lowering knuckles drop it by 25 - 30 mm to around the 335-340 mm. Your sounds more like an empty or deflated ball. Good luck with your dealer. Some of the best repair shops are non MGR dealers i.e. Mike Satur, Brown & Gammon, TechSpeed and many more. The trick is to find one in your area.

Where are you in Cornwall? I have a cousin who owns the New Inn at Phillack (or could be Gwithian.

Would it be safe to fit MS lowering knuckles alone, with no other adjustment to the suspension??
quikstu

Knuckles on thier own (plus 4 wheel alignment) are OK.

They lower the suspension mechanically and therefore all the pressures in the hydragas system remain within spec (this is why they are a better idea than just depressurising the system).

However, to fit them you need to fully depressurise the system (replace fluid after fitment) and undo the lower shock bolts. If you are going to all this work it makes sense to at least think about doing the shocks and bushes at the same time.

I live in Torpoint just across the water from Plymouth. Took the car back to Yeoman Citroen and complained today about ride height and water leak across the speaker on the offside door. Handbrake warning light is always on and fuel gauge erratic. Didn't get the car done today as they are trying to get it in to MGR Rodgers of Plymouth tomorrow. Running around in a Saxo. Don't laugh.

At least you should stay dry if it rains tonight :-)

Got the car back yesterday. Now measures 375mm all around. Feels like its on stilts. Much easier to get in and out of. The steering feels much lighter too.
