MG MGF Technical - Roof tightening
Hi, another one... The passenger side roof clip doesnt clip in as tight as the drivers side does so I was wondering if it is possible to tighten the clip thing? Just a small prblem but the odd drip comes through and makes the seat soaking wet and on the road the wind gets in too. Thanks again in advance Neil |

There is an adjuster inside the clip visible from underneath. |

Thanks Jon, will have a go. Just wasnt sure if I was meant to turn it just in case I ruined it completely. Neil |

Neil, With the latch open you will see a long nut with a clip stopping it from turning. Pull the clip down, turn the nut so that the latch mechanism retracts a little, push the clip back in place and test. Don't over cook it, or latch won't grab the hooky bit. Good luck. |

Thanks Sam Gonna have a bash tonight I think - wish me luck! Hopefully the roof wont rip off tomorrow on the motorway!!!! |

Hi I couldnt get my spanner in the gap - its too small! - Nightmare. And the constant rain has lead to a HUGE leak and 2 very wet seats. Any suggestions apart from the local garage? |

Can't you turn it by hand? |
Leigh |
No, cant turn it by hand its too stiff, cant really move that wire thats holding it in place either. |

Neil, The nut will not turn if the retaining wire clip is in place. Sounds like the mechanism has been corroded due to water ingress (I love that word). Anyway, it might be worth removing the entire latch assembly from the hood and giving it a good clean. Good luck. Sam |
