MG MGF Technical - Sexy Chrome
Still waiting, 3 weeks on, for "Alex F. Noble", of Penicuik to come up with a passenger side "window regulator?". Took my F in 2 weeks ago to get it replaced, but after an hours wait was told the item was incorrectly boxed and was the drivers side one. They promised to phone me back once they had the part. Phoned back today to be told that the part was still not in stock. Is this a common problem on F's?. The drivers side window is now starting to judder. To ask another question, I recently saw a picture of an F with chromed intakes. I've been to local dealers, but they can only do chromed meshes. Does anyone know where I can get these intakes? Or are they just painted? Cheers turboelf |

Chromed intake with same shape or with different shape? Same shape chrome ones can be purchased at Brown and Gammons, and the cool shape ones are not produced anymore... sadly. I like to keep my F in the original shape, but they do look cool. |

I think the B&G versions are stick on covers for the plastic you currently have (please correct me if I'm thinking about something else) Will |

My belief is that you are correct Will. Surely it wouldn't have cost that much more to chrome some of the originals and have a proper replacement? The same with the chrome mirror backs from B&G. The Mike Satur Super Sports style items are the daddies though. Thank goodness I managed to get hold of a set. Cost a fortune (collectors market!) and worth every penny! (IMHO) |

There is a very small picture of my F with the chrome mirror backs, intake surrounds and washer jets (all from B&G) in: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/dotcomoff/ Mine are two years old and wearing well. I think they look absolutely excellent, but then again, others have disagreed! If you do get the surrounds, tell me, and I'll tell you the knack of getting them to stick on! |

Should have mentioned that the picture is uner my entry in the F'ers gallery. |

Another style of engine bay grille used to be available from Mike Satur - in the style of the Supersports side grilles. Looked extremely nice, but were, predictably, quite pricey. But they certainly looked the part! These were also to be found on http://www.mgf.uk.com - although this site now appears to be defunct. Mike mentioned that he was thinking of getting these grilles remade - so perhaps worth dropping him a line if you are interested... Can't find any detail shots of said grille, but a couple of pix of the supersport on http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/mgf_concepts/mgf_concepts.htm |

Thanks for all your input guys! I think I'll plump for the B&G jobbies, but the chromdesign interior goodies also catch my eye as well. Time to start helping with the housework ;) (again) I guess. cheers turboelf |
