MG MGF Technical - Silverstone

I've owned my VVC for 6 months now and finally got to take it on a trackday at Binbrook last weekend. I had a bit of a "moment", which resulted in me spinning into the grass and breaking off one of the bits off a front mudflap that holds it on. I know it's not a big deal, but was after getting a replacement. Anyone know if this is the sort of thing i'd be able to pickup a bit cheaper at Silverstone this w/e? MGR want £23+vat which seems a bit on the expensive side!

I'm also after a workshop manual, luggage rack and a K+N57i. Anyone any idea if this is the sort of thing i'd be able to pickup/a bit cheaper at Silverstone?

The trading area will have loads of manufacturers and suppliers, I remember forom last year that there is a very useful stall which sell fixing, fitting nut and bolts and all those plastic clips we always break when removing internal or external trim.

Re: all the other stuff. yes, all readily available (except maybe the workshop manual) you may find a RAVE disc on ebay though for a tenner ;o)

Bryan,

Not sure about the mudflap component, probably have to buy a complete pair. But B+G will be at Silverstone and they supply mudflaps. Also, The MGF Centre are supposed to be there too, you may be able to get a second hand item.

Workshop manual is unlikely, although there were some hookey versions of the RAVE disc floating around in EBay (this is all the workshop manuals on a CD ROM). This is probably your best bet.

Luggage rack is more likely, there are a number of different types and Mike Satur (who will be there too) sells a couple of them.

K+N 57i i would say is a definite. Moss or B+G can supply you with one of these, both should be at Silverstone.

Bryan,

I did something similar - found the only gravel trap at Bedford Autodrome. :-)

The result, apart from gravel (actually small balls of clay) rattling around in unknown crevices for weeks, was that I damaged the front drivers side mudflap. It was hangin on by just one fixing point.

The kind folks at TechSpeed, who look after my car, simply plugged in an additional screw, a little lower down from the detached fixing point - no more flapping about.

By the way, if your interested in track days with other MGs, why not join us at MGs on Track? We're just a bunch of MG owners wanting cheap trackdays and trying a bit of self-help.

Great, thanks for the advice. I'd be happy getting some secondhand mudflaps (they are only mudflaps after all!) and luggage rack. Guess i'll have to bring my chequebook :-)

re: mgs-on-track - i'm already signed up. I'm looking to visit some tracks with large run-off areas (can you tell i'm a novice!) as I like my car too much! Heard Donington was worth a try? Any dates for that?

Binbrook (airfield) was good, though the surface was a bit rough, and the run-off areas in some places a bit to be desired!
