MG MGF Technical - Smoke in the engine

I have an X reg MGF which I bought 8 months back and have done 10000 miles since purchase. It is on 82K miles now. Till last week it was fine, Last week I was stuck in traffic jam and then with in 20 min there was smoke in the engine. Yesterday again I was stuck in traffic and again the same thing repeated.
I also noticed that the heating level indicator goes up rapidly and then I can hear some sort of rattling noise in the engine then there is smoke from the engine.

Can any body please tell me what could be the problem?
Can some body recommend few good MGF garages in Romford?
Any help is much appreciated.

I had the cambelt replaced at 76K Miles.

sounds like the fan fuse has gone or the fan is broken.

If you keep letting it overheat it will blow a headgasket , you may well have weakened it already
Will Munns

Is it smoke or steam? Have you checked the coolant level in the bottle? Is the dipstick covered in mayonnaise? It sounds to me like the head gasket has already gone.
Don't drive it, don't even start it, until it has been diagnosed and sorted. You could make things a lot worse.
Mike Howlett

The fan failing is what causes overheating in traffic, the overheating will cause boiling leading to high pressure in the coolant which will in turn blow it past the pressure relief cap.
Also the high temp may cook the gasket.

If the gasket was gone originally the symptoms would have been different
Will Munns

Agree entirely with Will, symptoms consistent with overheating problems rather than HGF, but avoid driving it as much as possible, get it to a garage and get them to have a look at it.
