MG MGF Technical - Soft Top
I know this has probably been discussed before but what is the best stuff to put on the soft top to protect it from the sun and to restore some colour to it? I vaguely remember reading something about some BMW Z3 stuff? |

Think BMW stuff would have been polish for the rear screen. Renovo/autogleam do stuff - check the archives. |

I have had a look and Autoglym do something called a "Cabriolet Fabric Hood Maintenence Kit" anyone tried this? |
J Price |
Yep, I used it, was OK for cleaning and reproffing, but apperently it fades the hood, apparently Renovo puts the colour back into the hood. Will |

The renovo stuff is a little better because there is a colour restorer available too. The Autoglym stuff is only cleaner and waterproofer http://www.renovouk.com/ |

Ahh I see, I dont really need to clean the hood, I just want to put some colour back in to it. So I will take a look at this Renovo stuff. Thanks |

www.frost.co.uk for all renovation products including RENOVO available in different colours and different 'modes' - Reviver, Cleaner and Proofer. Ted BTW I have no connection with this company other than as a satisfied customer. |

When using the Renovo hood restorer be aware that all their products, cleaner, colourer and proofer take a while to dry fully as they are water as apposed to spirit based (like autoglym). On my hood the cleaner had to be washed off with a water hose and as that strips off all previous products including spirit based waterprooferes (you have to do that) it takes an age to dry (2 days to dry in cold damp weather, but they say half a day on the box). If you put the colourer on before the hood is fully dry it makes an awful mess and is patchy and it gets worse when you put the proofer on. I had to repeat the full procedure twice, luckily i was off work at the time as it took me about a week in the end. This weather i'm guessing drying will be much quicker, but take care. The results by the way are excellent and the hood looked like new when completed (it was then 4.5 years old). |
