MG MGF Technical - spare moving metalic part in the car

Ok this is an old problem on my car but now it realy annoyed me.

under the passager side there is a matelaic part (as a bolt) moving front and back ward freely when I accelerates/breakes. It really getting on my nerves.

Is somebody knows how to locate/remove this thing ???

Maxime,

Suggest you remove the seat by undoing the four bolts with a Torx spanner. Lift carpet so that you can access the box section under the seat. It sounds like there is something which has found its way inside the box section.

ive just had my first mot and mine is doing same i can here it passenger side somewhere i have had look in engine bay cant see anything loose but something is rattling about somewhere.?

It's not under the seat, it more under the foot and goes to the seat... That's why I'm quiet annoyed because I think it between the two layer of the celling ...

I have try to have a look at the central consol be can locate the piece..

I will try to remove the seat

I may be way off here :0)

But have you tried in the door, by removing the panel and putting your hand in, i know mine was making a noise and it was an old broken window stop causing the rattle.. someone had left it in there when fitting a new one..

I agree with Nick, more likely to be an old window stop or something rolling about inside the door skin.

Could also be something rolling about inside the gearbox cable tunnel, lift out the cubby box and or the ashtray and get a torch to inspect.

To take out the seats (full instructions in the MGF FAQ) you need a 50mm IIRC Torx socket.

At the risk of repeating myself! ;-)

Also on the MGF FAQ are some hood tips which cover rattles and 'tinging' noises!

Hi all.

When I had a problem with the gearbox cable I let a bolt fell into the transmission tunnel. The noise was very annoying. Tried to locate it with a torch. No help. Get a sort of a magnet "pen" and stretch it to the interior of the tunnel, or below the seat.

If itīs not alluminium or stainless steel, it should come off... :)

Cheers, Valter.
