MG MGF Technical - Spare Wheel

Hi All,
Anyone out there know if there is a space saver spare that will fit the MGF, as having a thin space saver would free up some luggage space and still provide a spare wheel. Any suggestions welcome as off to the lakes week after next and need to ditch the big spare wheel as my wife needs the kitchen sink etc.

I could be wrong but I think you will find that the wheel under your bonnet is a spacesaver!!!

Robert,

Never had any problems with lack of room, just train the other half into taking essentials and not half the house. Have a great time in the Lakes, will be going back there this Sept. If you want to know of a few great places to eat just say. ;-)

Andy,

The F has a full size steel wheel and depending on what model/option you have on the TF a repair kit, full size steel wheel or full size alloy.

Robert,

Just remove the wheel! I did it and bought also a mousse spray, never had problems. Well I never had a puncture also...

It saves lots of space.

Cheers,

Valter.

Thankfully I never had to use the repair kit thing while I was waiting for the alloy spare to arrive for my TF160. From what I gather using them is a little hit and miss and they're totally useless if the tyre is damaged and no longer serviceable. This situation happend to my girlfriend on the M25 but luckily she also had her spare alloy by then.

The F/TF boot will swallow a fair amount of stuff if you pack it sensibly. There's also something satisfying having used every little bit of space and still manage to take all the things you are really likely to need. :)

And don't forget you can get pillows, blankets, rugs and/or deck-chairs behind the seats!

As said above, I believed the F had a space saver as OEM. Certainly, my '96 F did and so has my TF135. We managed 2 weeks hotelling in France with standard luggage space. Used the space under front bonnet for light waterproof jackets, bottles of water etc.

ps saw your car at Cotswold Park last weekend but didn't see you to speak to.

Not so much a space saver as an emergency spare to fit both back and front!

Also remember that the front space should not be pack full of 'solid' objects as it is a CRUMPLE ZONE.

You have a common problem.
On our trips to Switzerland, Ann would fill the car then I would pick her up at Zurich when she has another case. The Black MGR Bootrack sufficed but it is really ugly. B&G now have the remaining stock of the MGR Bolt On Stainless Steel racks complete with the case for £199 Inc so we have fitted one.

One trip was disrupted when sidewall damage required a new tyre. It was impractical to continue on the steel spare so we stopped and waited for a tyre. We now carry an Alloy 16in Spare.

My vvc space saver was very chunky but a spacesaver none the less. The TF has a kit that I don't like the look of

Thanks all,
I have a space saver as MGR call it but is a big chunky wheel 14 ins, i was looking for the thin space saver as is about 4ins wide but i will junk the wheel and take the puncture kit.
