MG MGF Technical - Speed / Revs conversion xls sheet
Hello I once had an xls sheet somebody of you once made where one could enter what tires are on the car and if it was a vvc or an mpi and other stuff and the Excel sheet then calculated and showed graphically the speed out of the revs and this of course more accurate than the speedo does. Does anyone still have this xls file, as I could not find it with a search. It would help me a lot! Thanks to you all. Cyril |

Hi Cyril, may be you reffer to http://www.mgfcar.de/data/V_mgf.zip ? made by Peter R. Oct. 2001 HTH Dieter |

Thanks Dieter, that's what I was looking for! Now I can calculate back from the 160 km/h they flashed me on the hiway...... that would be ca. 150.- for real minus 5 tolerance from mesurement, that would be 145 minus 120 leagal equals 25 to much, if I am "lucky" I only get a fine.... Or maybe they can't read the licenceplate like the last two times :-) Drew, thanks too, but I couldn't open the link. I tried it with undescore_ and other formatting but didn't get it. Thanks again and Dankeschön! Cyril |

*g ... ;) I know that bad feeling. Cost me the licence in last year for 1 month. No needs for pre-calculate cause I had far to much ;) @ Drew, link fails with IE browser even using copy&paste :( Please upload with _ (underline) instead of blanks. |

oop, sorry bout that. http://www.roverdose.redmail.co.uk/ratios.xls that any better? Drew |
Drew Spalding |
Dieter - any chance of an anglo version Drew - still does not work Tony |

Tony, did quickly without much verification. km * 0.622 = mls factor included. Is that right ? Same link as above, two files inside now. Should be verified in any way. Anyone may compare with the old spread sheet prints from John Thomas in the FAQ, please. Dieter |

Dieter or / 1.60498 is just as close working on a TF version based upon details on web page. Should be finished tomorrow I do need to get some sleep so watch this space Tony |

ok, quite annoying. try http://roverdose.redmail.co.uk then type ratios.xls in the top bar afterward. if not can someone else try, i can mail the sheets over, 37.5kb. Drew |

doh that should be www.rov... but it works for me! Drew |

For me too ... now. :) Keep cool, no worries :) http://www.roverdose.redmail.co.uk/ratios.xls Looked @ it That's great and more comprehensive. Thank you ! >or / 1.60498 is just as close I'll change at mine (diveded then) :o) Cheers Dieter |

Hmm, just compared and I'm not pleased. Both get different results. I tried: 215/40 16' VVC .. get some mph difference. 149 mph from Drew, 155 mph from Peter R *g ... please, what means *drop gear* ? When I enter 0,96375 *whyever* for drop gear at Drew's then it's equal and fine. Regards Dieter <-- no anticipation |
Dieter K. |
Me again, I would spend more trust in spread sheet @ Drew. ;) Found the tyres circumference wrong in the german version. *drop gear* is clear now (4me) relates to automatic gear box (Stepspeed) Found at http://www.mgcars.org.uk/MGF/mgfspec.html Though I'm still confused about the revs per mile calculation. Drew has 1609344 devided by circumference. Shouldn't that be 1604980 ??? |
Dieter K. |
drop gear is used for A-series engined cars where the gearbox was underneath the engine, therefore requiring drop gears to take drive from the crank to the box. should be set at 1:1. no mate. 1 mile = 1609344 mm Drew |
