MG MGF Technical - Squeaky front suspension

Unlike the F, my TF has traditional coil springs and they're driving me crazy with a loud squeak every minor bump in the road.

Presume there is a way of greasing/ lubricating the assembly, but I can't find any nipples.

My TF tends only to be used in the drier weather, and as a consequence various squeaks develop over the course of a typical summer. I've always found that either a run in the wet or a good spray with the hose whilst washing eases all the various squeaks for a while!

Thanks Mike,

Do you mean give the suspension a good hosing down?

It works for me - but then it's always possible you *might* have a more serious issue ;)

you could use your own squeak fixer as I do...

1. an empty, trigger squeeze to spray plastic container, the kind you might have had glass cleaner or similar trigger spray in, now empty..
2. some white spirit or white spirit substitute, something that will evaporate over a very short time..
3. some waxoyl or... but not as effective.. old but not contaminated engine oil or gearbox oil... or all three.
4.. mix, white spirit - 50% plus waxoyl and oil.. or either as the other 50%, and put in in your trigger container..
5. now spray liberally on anything except brakes, that might squeak
6. the white spirit evaporates, but leaves the waxoyl/ oil combination behind, and becauase the white spirit is very fluid.. the combination penetrates every little spot...

7. you have made your own better equivalent of wd 40, for pennies, not pounds and used it... i hope it stops your squeaks... BUT ... remember.. white spirit is VERY volatile - explosive... and oil and waxoyl are non electrical conductive.. do not spray this on any exposed electrical terminations... including the inside of the disty... laughs... unless you want to see a big bang at the first spark.

Thanks NJ, I'll give it a go.
Shame they don't use grease nipples any more.

Thanks again NJ, I took your advice and brewed a Squeak fixer. Now running Squeakless!
