MG MGF Technical - Stretch marks
After 7 years the old girl is showing her age, stretch marks - read on I have just noticed that my hood has developed stretch marks. I guess the burmese cat doe not help - finds it nice to sleep on. The other indication is that is very easy to lock the roof down. Is there any way of tightening the roof? Looking forward to hearing from you all David |

David, Check the two brackets that are attached to the windscreen (and the hood locks into) aren't loose. Mine were when I bought my F and after tightening the brackets the hood was tight again. That's on a '99 so a bit newer than your own. Chris. |

David, If you open up the hood fixing brackets that attach to the top of the windscreen, you will see some elongated nuts. If you turn these (can't remember the direction) it will tighten them up. Make sure they are evenly tightened, otherwise only one will grip properly, causing the other one to rattle. Sam |

Hey David!! We've also got a Burmese cat (a blue) but (un)fortunately he's getting on now and a tad arthritic and so probably can't jump onto the TF!!!! Poor old boy....we love him to bits, tho'!! What colour's yours?? (Sorry guys......not EXACTLY on topic!!) |

If you find that the adjustment in the elongated nutes has been used then there is a wire that runs along top edges of the hood near to the hood. There is a grub screw located at the rear which allows you to tighten the wire up and then fine tune with the elongated nuts. More detail is available on Dieters site I think it is under the window adjust section. |

Speaking of stretch marks... ;-) ...A woman of a certain age was gazing forlornly at herself in a mirror. She sighs and says "Look at me, my breasts are saggy, my skin is wrinkly and my bottom is too big!" She then turns to her husband and says "Tell me something truthfull about me to cheer me up" He repies "Your eyesight is spot on!" :-) SF |

Interesting advice y'all. I may have a got at this - ever since I bought my F the passenger side slip has been much slacker than the driver's. It's always niggled at me... David 'Home of Chrome' Bainbridge (back from a long BBS absence!) |
