MG MGF Technical - suspension
Can anyone help; I need some quick links to details about the MGF suspension set up and hydragas rates. I have just dropped my car at a local garage after noticing that one of the rear wheels seems to be about 30-40mm lower than the other side which is probably why I posted a note before Christmas about noticing the ride is more bumpy. The mechanic was looking under the wheel for the hydragas point when I mentioned that the points were under the bonnet. I am looking for some notes to print off for him that I can provide to give some assistance. Any help appreciated. Oh Happy New year to those who like me only use the work computer for internet and this is their first day back. |

Hi Timothy, can't help you with your problem but i can point you in the right direction. Check out Dieter and Rob Bell's sites. They have tons of info on suspension set up and hydrogas so you should find what you need. Good luck! http://www.mfgcar.de & http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com p.s. helping a mechanic find a solution with printout's...? maybe you should look into taking it to someone who knows what they are doing? I've had my share with inexperienced mechanics, and it's not that they are bad at what they do, it's just that they don't know how to get it right. |

>after noticing that one of the rear wheels seems to be about 30-40mm lower than the other side Would this be the off-side wheel? A number of people have experienced failure of the off-side sphere. Not sure why it should be this one that always fails. Maybe Dieter has a reason. Ralph |

Could this be the Gas sphere being blown. I thought that if the liquid sphere blew , one side of the car would lower, not just 1 wheel. Or it could have been to Techspeed for the 4 nipple job. Johan |

Depends on how the sphere fails Johan: if nitrogen gas is lost then the majority of the height loss will be on one wheel... Tim, if the ride has dropped on just one wheel, then I suspect that this is a Hydragas failure. The right rear seems particularly vulnerable for some reason. |
