MG MGF Technical - TF boot net

There was no net fitted in the boot of my TF when I brought it,now I have got one, but how do you fit it? there are 2 "L" shaped wires a long length of elastic and the net itself,I would be greatful of any help or pictures.
Colin

Going to install a net behind the seats of my car Colin - so will be looking at the boot cargo net for clues.

When I get around to doing this, I'll let you know (unless someone else can fill us in in the mean time?)
Rob Bell

I have the *F* boot cargo net and that attaches to two plastic hooks that fit onto existing bolts just below the light cluster.

The net came with the plastic bits and an instruction sheet.

Two different nets Ted. :-)

Official accessory, MGF boot net is as you say, a long rectangular net that attaches to a pair of plastic hooks mounted on the end of the bumper bolts, below the light clusters. I have one too and it's very handy :-)

The net that Colin is talking about is the one on the bulkhead wall that separates the engine compartment from the boot - this is a deleted item from the TF spec in much the same way as the engine bay grille, under bonnet light, map pockets etc.

Colin,

I'm at work at the moment, but the boot carpet is currently out of Scarlet and is very easy for me to inspect when i get home tonight. This should tell me how it is fitted and hopefully (if no one else answers), i shall be able to give you an answer later on.

I have just looked at my net and it is attached by four pins which go right through the bulkhead wall and are fixed with a plastic clip on the engine side of the bulkhead.

A bit drastic for a net I think, but it is obviously designed to take some weight. If it was merely attached to the carpet, any weight would just pull the carpet forward of the bulkhead itself.

>this is a deleted item from the TF spec<

It may have been deleted in later models of the TF but it's there in my April 2002, 160.

Sorry guys, add the word 'current' before the words 'TF spec'.

Had a look at the boot net arrangement. This is going to be difficult to describe, but bear with me OK? ;-)

There should be the following items:

The net
L shaped wires (x2)
Cream plastic clips (x2)

You need a number of holes in the boot carpet to fit, the basic arrangement is this:

The loops of the net pass through the holes (all four corners and several more along the bottom of the net). These loops have the L shaped wires threaded through them and the wires are fastened together to form a square/rectangle with the cream plastic clips, these hold it rigid.

This will only work on stiff carpet and it also needs to be secured to the engine compartment partition wall with trim clips locally to the net to take the load of whatever you stow in the net.

My March 2003 TF160 has was as well!
Steve White

Steve, I'm confused by your response :-), I know TISWAS but "has was" got me stumped.
