MG MGF Technical - tf console

hi ,just got the mk 2 console area with the alloy gear gaiter surround. now i am panicking if the existing mk 1 heater control unit will fit.i seem to recall it does,nt,and i may need the mk2 control unit as well. i have got the M S alloy heater knobs mk1 fitted,to my existing unit so wanted a straight swap. As usual i did not check prior to purchase as my brother has the family brain cell at weekends.any one know..........thanks mel...

checked out robs site and it looks like i will need the mk 2 heater control unit as the dash sits forward more. i was wondering if anyone has tried to make the spacer that the mk 2 heater control unit has which fits behind the black heater control unit face.....thanks.....

Mel I think this chap has just done what you're trying to do -

Mel, yes, the other option is to space the existing heater unit out to meet the new centre console. Not quite sure of the measurements, but I know one of the Essex Roadster guys used small MDF blocks to achieve the desired effect :o)

Guys,

Any idea how long the conversion take to do? some nice people visited my F and decided to break the console to get at the radio, even although the face was off :o(

Victora is sending the parts required but hopefully I'll get the time to sort the F at the weekend (weather permitting)

A couple of hours with a fair wind Les? Sorry to hear about the Vandalls though, but I guess this offers the opportunity of a the silver lining! :o)

it took me about five hours all in,as had to bond the face of the mk1 heater control unit to the mk 2 console, would deffo buy the mk 2 heater contol unit if doing again as you have to cut some bits off the original to fit ,as well as sort out the spacing.looks good fitted no probs on the looks department, BUT THE HEATER CONTROL LIGHTS ,do not come on now . not to bothered ,i didn,t unplug anything as far as i know but it was ok befor the up grade, any ideas............?????????????????
