MG MGF Technical - TF Horn or Horns??

Quote from TF135 Shakeout Tour article in Feb '03 Enjoying MG mag page 60:
"...I noticed the car had rather a pathetic single tone horn. Further investigation found only one trumpet under the bonnet with the wiring for the other hanging loose. Stour Valley is sourcing the missing horn...."

Well, MY TF160 only has one horn too, but I can't find any unused wiring!!

Anyone know how many horns a TF should have???

In a similar vein, has anyone fitted air horns to their cars?? Does the compressor work quick enough for the security system to sound the horns?? Or do you just get an asthmatic (??) wheezing??
SimonKE

Not sure, but I think since MY 2003 is one horn only at all models.

Can't find 'Simon' in the famous VIN list ;)
Is yours a 3D in the VIN ?
Dieter K.

Simon,

It does appear that at some point after the TF hit the market that the twin horns were possibly dropped. My TF160 definately has two, but it is one of the earlier ones.
Paul Lathwell

My July 2002 TF160 has two horns...I think that they stopped fitting two sometime around September IIRC
Blue Max

>around September IIRC

then approximate with 3D610xxx

I am impressed that no one in this thread has made the expected childish joke!
David Bainbridge

It should have been titled
"How horney is your TF.... Grrrr"
Will Munns

David

My local bookmaker gave me 2-5 that it would be Will but I turned it down :-(

Must be earlier than September 2002, 'cause we were allready talking about this during and before Treffen 2002.
Erik

....but what about my Air Horn query?????????????????
SimonKE

Erik,

of course, I forgot that. *Alzheimer* ? ;)
Anyway, we find it out.
I'll blow an email querry regarding horn count to all VIN registered if there are enough in the list who can reply.
Still to less. Not worth to bore only 20.

I went to get my horns switched to air horns, but it was going to have be in parallel with the original horns as apparently it is illegal to have air horns as an alarm??!!

I was also told that there would be a second or so delay of them sounding this way when the horn button is pushed.

Don't know how right this all is and how helpful, the info came from a dealer.

My Trophy 160 is in the garage at the moment, and I have a TF160 courtesy car. It's on a 52 plate, and has 1500 miles on it. It has 2 horns - checked last night! It could be that this is an older car and was in the showroom for a while before being registered, not sure.
Cheers
