MG MGF Technical - TF wash wipe

First of a series of questions about the TF, but going to use separate threads as each is a different area.

Got a list of teething problems on the TF, although I am not sure if one really is a problem. Handbook suggests that the wipers operate when using the washer, but in reality they do not. Now, I cannot remember from the MGF what actually happened and do not want to complain unless I know what is normal. Anybody care to slip out to their MG (as if you need a reason) and find out for me? Cheers.

Chris

PS. Other items on list are:
- Missing hood cover? [Think I am being a chancer here!]
- Boot difficult to close
- Middle brake light appears loose
- Loose carpet passenger side
- Loose trim back of parcel shelf
- Handbrake handle loose
All quite fiddling really, but it is a new car and I take the view that these things are worth sorting. Pedant!

Chris,

The wash wipe is not automatic on the F, you pull the arm towards you to spray then move the arm down to wipe, however a simulataneous forward, down and hold manoeuvre has the same effect as the auto wash/wipe.

>Missing hood cover? [Think I am being a chancer here!]
I think this is still standard on 1.8 & VVC versions.

Cheers for info. Could not remember what happened and there was there was enough doubt in my mind to ask the question.

Will

Might be worth the asking then :-).

Hood cover is only standard on the TF160, but I know of several people who have got one FOC when ordering their car (if you don't ask you don't get).

Loose carpet on passenger side was also problem with my 2002 TF160 -"rectified" foc by a contractor to MGR who came out to my house with a roll of double sided carpet tape and soem Velcro! Still slightly loose fitting, but acceptable and better than having car back to garage whilst waiting for complete new carpet set IMO
Blue Max

Odd that the carpet should be loose, have they changed the design or is this a consequence of having the revised cills (i thought it was only the external panels)?

I know that the back panel carpet has changed (very slightly) too, maybe MGR have changed suppliers?

Curious.

SF,the guy that came to fix mine said that there had been a run of poor carpet fits around last May/June (2002).My car was delivered late July.
It seems that the "cut" has been made too small to tuck right up under the door seal, consequently the edge of the carpet is visible.Double sided sticky has helped to locate better, but still not an optimum fit
Blue Max

OK, so it's a dodgy batch then.

I posted a very similar bunch a questions on receiving my TF a week or so back.
Just for the record, my parcel shelf also doesnt fit very well. MG-Rover said it should be a tight fit. Our dealer (Arnold Clark Mount vernon - rubbish btw) 'rectified' this issue by wedging the shelf up under the rubber trim, looks more of a mess than ever now.
And no the wipers and washers dont work at the same time...
Still no joy on the gaping hole between hood and body btw...
