MG MGF Technical - The Cost of HGF
If you read my last thread "HELP" you will know my Head gaskets just given up doe's anyone know what i should pay to have this fixed |
David Smith |
David, commiserations Until the engine is stripped you will not know how much damage i.e. head Ok or skimmable or replaceable? etc But costs I've seen on this BBS since I got my car suggest anything from £350 - £600 is quite common with an unfortunate few who went higher. My fingers are crossed for you |

Should i take it 2 MGR |
David Smith |
>>Should i take it 2 MGR << It's got to be trailered to wherever it's going and this is going to be your limiting factor. If it's a simple HGF then think around 500. The problem is that the car died on you for some reason and the engine may be cooked; a coolant to oil leak on a dead engine sounds fairly terminal. A 2nd hand engine starts around 700 and may be a better bet ? Perhaps a call to the MGF Centre is in order. |

The engine will start again when it is cool |
David Smith |
Dave, Have a look at your original thread. I think you need to investigate a little further |

>The engine will start again when it is cool Don't attempt to start or run the car at all until you get it checked out and confirmed whether or not it is a HGF. |
