MG MGF Technical - Tracking

Should I take the MGF and have the wheels tracked at an ATS/Kwick fit outfit or should I take it to a MGR dealer?

What are your views?

Cheers

no, to both questions.
Will Munns

My front tyres were always wearing out, cost me a fortune always replacing them. I took them to a MGF Dealership, still worn after a while in the same place, last attempt Brown and Gammons, excellent job, have not replaced them.

Given your location, pay a visit to Mike Satur, and ask for 4 wheel alignment.

Mike's definitely your man in your area Bob - completely agree with Jim and Will :o)

B&G probably a bit too far away for you.

My 2 ½ year old MGF has developed the usual inner front tyre wear (drivers side is worse).
Does any one know anywhere local to Reading, Berkshire that is reliable enough to sort out the tracking or should I trust my local MGF dealer?
I have the 3-year manufacture guarantee and would guess that this does not cover this problem?!

Thank you

Alan

Snap! My recently replaced front tyres are worn on the insides too. It's crazy replacing them all the time, and this is after a £700 (inc parts) service plus wheel alignment by Cl;assic Cars of Kent (Tonbridge). MG/Rover quote £140 +vat for 4-wheel alignment.

Anyone know an alternative in the T Wells area that will do a good job?

Alan, Reading

Its not that near to Reading I know but I am in Wokingham and use Feltham tyres, they are 3 mins off M4 Feltham junction. they done a good job on mine and seem to know there stuff.

Used Feltham tyres frequently too - and they're excellent. A bit of a trek from Reading, but a full tracking costs 40 quid, which is very reasonable.

They're happy if you specify non-standard tracking settings too (as I always do)

BBS settings (which solves inner edge tyre wear), BTW are:

front 0º05' toe IN ±0º03'
rear 0º10' toe IN ±0º06'

Stu, Rob,
Thank you for the advice.
Went down there this morning and got it all sorted.

Stu,
I work in Wokingham – if you see a blue MGF with the roof down, even during the winter, then its probably mine!
