MG MGF Technical - translation/explanation please for SF

Hi,

I'm just email chatting with Anrew and I'm afraid, but can't find the right technical description to explain how to dismantle a automotive connector.
The subject is the throttle sensor connector. The two outer positions need to be swapped.
Everything OK so far, but Anrew has a problem on getting out the connector pin from the connector housing without breaking anything.

Were are here
http://www.mgfcar.de/throttle/index.htm

http://www.mgfcar.de/throttle/swap_6460.jpg
The connector already opened from the rear

OTHER similar connector pins:

Now what's up.
This connectors and connection pins are standard elecronic parts. The all get into the housing from the rear. One or two small brackets hold theme in place and a special tool is required to bend the brackets back and push the pin out.

This is possible in DIY manner with two wires pushed in from the front.
A professianal tool from AMP or similar looks like a screwdriver with two small knifes.

-----------------------

If you got the contacts out then use a thin screwdriver or knife and lift the small (Widerhaken) bracket so that they will be able to hold the contact in place if pushed back.

*g* I wonder what this gets*

Sorry for barging in like this but I thought I would give you a hand here.

I have found this web site which does translations.. it is not too bad as you can see
http://babelfish.altavista.com/tr

It has translated your words to read thus….

- two paper clips even bend (wire size for instance 0,8mm.
- in front on the pin seen two slots beside the contact should be. The wires must fit there inside. If too thick, then with a small hammer the wires knock flat and laterally abfeilen.
- the wires inside put there, up to the impact (thus the Widerhaken back-curved) - with something strength now the connecting lead with the contact to forward shift and at the same time the paper clips out on it after in the back - something at the paper clips wackeln and then the connecting lead to the rear to pull.

Sorry but some words have not been translated sorry! In fact I have tried several sites but the same words can't be translated. Are they technical words?

Cheers!
great fun in any way :)

>technical words
*g* yes, but the translator misses some sense as well :)
That is just mad !!

'Widerhaken' seams to be a the cambered tab at the side of a spade connector
'Büroklammer' is paper clip... nice
'wackeln' is move from one side to the other

Found this one though it's more amercican ?
To remove the spade connector from its retainer, slip two small wires (paper clips) or needles into the receiving end and release the spade retainer tabs.

Slide the spade connector out of the back of the retainer.

When you are finished, bend the retainer tabs back upwards and slide the spade connectors back into the retainer and lock it into place.

SF has kept us all informed on the Forum. I am very impressed with the quality of work by Andrew and your detailed explanation on site.

Hopefully Andrew will have it fitted by tomorrow or its back to OE TB.

Thanx for the input guys, especially Diter - you are a star.

In the end i cut the wires and fastened them to each other. No the prettiest solution, but it works! :-)

The full exploits can be found here:

Note the ?, cut and paste...

Thanks Bruce for the wiggle translation.

I think Andrew himself currently wiggles ....
Mate, sleep one night an on we go.

Anything to making your mind up ?
Mmmmh, I think I'll order two of the 'Bonrath' 75mm flexi hoses and see also for another closed filterbox.

Dieter <--- If I'd be a star, I'd no reason to chatting around here ;)
