MG MGF Technical - Trolley jack location points
Perhaps a stupid question...where are the correct location/support points to place a trolley jack beneath a TF? As I have the 160 with IMS, no jack and wheelbrace are supplied, so will revert to my old MGB technique of two wheels off at same time :-) |

Trolley jacking points can be found in the centre line of the car - at the front, it is ahead of the front subframe, and at the rear behind it (or in front - if you are looking from the rear of the car). They are pretty easy to identify - they are a 'U' shape made of - I presume - high tensile steel. But as long as you don't jack under suspension components, I don't suppose it matters where under the subframe you place the jack. When resting the car on axle stands, I usually put them under the corners of the subframe. |

Here we go http://www.mgfcar.de/gearbox/DSC00601.jpg http://www.mgfcar.de/gearbox/DCP_5962.jpg notice the wooden plate below the wheel. This is to get enough clearance for the trolly jack arm if the car is lowered to 340mm. |
