MG MGF Technical - Trophy Brakes, will they fit
We are getting conflicting advice as to whether Trophy brakes will fit within our wheels or not. The car is booked in to have them fitted even though the supplier is not sure either, they understand that it will be a try it and see job. We have 16" multi spokes. We would love to have a set of Trophy wheels but the 75le would not be right with them, or would it????? |

I believe the only MGR wheels the Trophy brakes will physically fit behind are those actually found on the Trophy or those as fitted to the TF160. Oh plus the Ultra-light (grey looking) wheels available as an option on the TF. Not sure what if any other non MGR wheels can be used (not that's really an issue here!) |

Hello Nik Unfortunately I believe they will only fit behind the Trophy wheels. It would be a shame to lose the multi spokes on your car but the Trophy wheels would look excellent with your black paintwork. You should have mail if I have your email address correct. Neil |

A short term solution may be to add thin spacers, but I am unsure of the degree of conflict between the outer part of the caliper that carries the two ectra pistons and the inside face of the wheel spokes. By thin I would not go beyond 6mm and short term means the time needed to obtain suitable wheels with the correct internal dimensions. Rog |

Nik & Anita, Should you decide to invest in some trophy alloys I would be iunterested in atking the multispokles off your hands! |

ROGER, Once again you are 'the' top man. A 1.5mm spacer was all that was required. Everything seems to be perfect, do you see a long term problem???? Nik |

N&A,1.5mm will not be a problem at all, just make sure the mating faces are clean when fitting them. Mike. |

Nice work there Nik! :o) Where did you get the brakes from, and I wonder if the same spacer trick will allow the brakes to be fitted under 16" abby style wheels (and the 16" square spokers for that matter)? |

Nik very interested in how much this cost. I have been thinking of getting the trophy calipers/discs for a while now, but been putting it off as too expensive. |

Nik Thanks for allowing Art and me to give your new brakes a go. They should have bedded in following our run. Hopefully you had enough tread to get home. They don't make handbrake turns any easier though. The Daytona sounds excellent on full song:-) On a serious note they look the part and are a huge improvement over the standard callipers. Neil |

Rob.... Speakers are now on their way. Don't know about your wheels though. Paul...£250 from MGF Centre(see ad' in most MG mags). You will not be disappointed by the prices or the buying experience. Trust me, collect your parts yourself. Neil...Great day on Sunday. I was quite impressed myself with the sound as I had not heard the car from outside before. Will e'mail you soon. |
