MG MGF Technical - Trophy Exhausts
I'm currently looking at replacing the backbox on my Mpi. The car's due to get serviced and get the exhaust manifolds rewelded at Mike's at the end of the week. I'm torn between buying a Daytona (330 quid) at the same time, but I'm concerned about the noise increase as I use the MG as a daily drive. To further complicate things I can get hold of a trophy exhaust for 250 quid. Will it offer similar performance yet not be as loud? thanks, Darren.

Where is it possible to get hold of a Trophy 160 exhaust system I would like one to replace mine when it is due. The reason is the same as you performance without the extra noise.

I'll tell you at the end of the week ;) Darren.

I may well be selling my Trophy exhaust and fitting a decent one. More power, and sounding good! And made of stainless steel.

Just engaged brain and realised it won't fit my '98 MPI. Doh!!
Darren
They're also available from Midlands MGF for £250 quid should any mk2 people be interested! Darren.

Darren Not sure if Mike still offers the service, but when I bought mine some years ago and found it too noisy, he exchanged it for a quieter version at the same price. Chris

Will the Trophy 160 exhaust fit a 98 mpi or does it require alterations? where can I contact Midlands MGF?

Early, pre-2001 compliant Trophy 160 exhausts will fit pre -2001 MGFs. Post 2001 MGF exhausts will fit pre-2001 cars if an elbow joint is made up to match the original type catalyst to the new-pattern exhaust system. Another option would be to fit the catalyst and backbox from the TF160 to your MGF, and simply plug up the sensor sender hole. Cheaper in the end to fit a stainless exhaust from the likes of Mr M. Satur... ;o)
