MG MGF Technical - Tuning The F VVC
Hi guys, Quick question: I have a slight tremble in tick over. Does anyone know how much it is to get the F's timing sorted out? Regards, mike |

A 'tremble' Mike? How do you mean? |

Mike, I have the same problem. Probably something to do with age, in my case. It goes when I get excited, tho, and becomes a knee tremble! |

Hello Rob, sounds like it's slightly out. You can see the rev gauge wobble every now and again.. Regards, Mike |

Yeah but Simon I'm 26! Are I guess your not! Mike |

Mike...Regretably NOT!!! (Well, not biologically, anyway) |

I feel old though..!! anyway this problem, is there a way of sorting the timing out? Is it expensive? Regards, Mike |

Ah, okay, a slight irregularity in the engine's rhythm? What's the idle speed? Might be worth checking over things like the ignition leads and spark plugs, as well as checking the throttle body... |
Rob Bell |
Hi Rob, Idle normal in between 8 and 9 Mike |
M R Gibson |
That's a normal range.. hmmm.... how about resetting the ECU? Did you add anything to your car? Or change the exhaust / remove the cat. ? |

Hi all, could this be the "heartbeat" sound ,i.e. one "beat" every 2 crankshaft turn = one "beat" every one turn of the camshafts ? I have this now and then on my VVC and have not been able to identify it or itīs origin. It has been briefly mentioned on the Elise BBS ,but to my knowledge never before here.Something to do with the wasted ignition sparks? Could any K-engine guru enlighten on this "beat" sound ? BR, Carl. |
