MG MGF Technical - Tyre Pressures
Hi Guys, Could you please advise me as to the correct tyre pressure of an Yr 2000 MGF 1.8 VVC. I have had two new rear tyres fitted which seem to be a bit "twitchy", just want to make sure that tyre pressure was correct. Cheers! Andrea |

What kind of tyres did you fit? Depending on what you got fitted they may take a few hundred miles to "bed" in. I certainly noticed it when I had my GSD2's fitted. |

Hi Bob, I fitted Goodyear, i have done approx 300 hundred miles since they have been fitted Andrea |

I've just had a new set of F1's fitted to my car. After having them fitted I drove around the corner and immediately checked the pressure. Turned out they had inflated the tyres to 38 psi Eeek. Moral of story, always check the tyre pressure after having new tyres fitted. Front 26 psi, rear 29 psi works for me. |

26psi front 28psi rear. Or try 30psi alround (that's what I use...gives a neutral balance to the car). Book says 26psi front and 36psi rear but that is a little high IMO. HTH |

Thanks Guys!!! Andrea |

>> Or try 30psi alround (that's what I use...gives a neutral balance to the car). << Maybe this is a "Rob" thang - but I find exactly the same as Rob: 30psi all round is just perfect :o) |

Just put my tyre pressures to 30psi all round(TF135,16" ALLY'S).Handling is transformed, sharper turn in, less bumpety-bump,huge reduction of tramlining, car just generally feels 100% better. Thanks guys. Perhaps someone from MGR would come on the BBS and explain how they arrived at the recommended 26-28/36.(And then I woke up!) Regards. |

Rob - The 26psi front 36psi rear is for the TF, according to the handbook the Y2000 model should have 24 front 28 rear. |
