MG MGF Technical - tyres..........
I know this has been asked again and again and again but a final answer never seems to be reached........ what are the correct tyre pressures for the MGF front and rear for general road use.It says on the side ofthe tyre not to go over 40psi, which isnt much of a help really. Can we all agree on this one........... |

Check your handbook Ted |

No probs, also see the thread "handles strange" posted today. Variations from these pressures can have a marked effect on handling. |

I have Toyo Proxis S tyres and have found that over inflating them to 30 all round really helps with tyre wear and handling. They worked really well on my last track day! it's the brakes that went wrong! |

The recommended pressures of 26 and 28 may be fine for the Goodyear NCTs but what about when you fit another make of tyre? Does the same still hold, or do different makes come with their own manufacturer's recommendations for optimum performance? |

Dimo, this is where the experimentation comes in, as a general rule the standard pressures should be about the same but there are no fixed rules. I don't think tyre manufacturers give this advice to the public as this largely depends on the car. Car manufacturers will no doubt ask tyre manufacturers advice when defining the recomendations for tyre pressures though. |
