MG MGF Technical - Veering to the left!!

My F has started pulling to the left.
The problem occurs like this; - when driving in a straight line applying pressure to the accelerator the car goes straight, however the moment I lift off the car pulls to the left - somewhat scary on the motorway middle lane at 70 with a truck on the inside lane!! I have checked all the tyre pressures they are fine. Any suggestions as to the cause and how to rectify the problem? As it makes the driving experience somewhat dangerous.
Cheers

It sounds as though both the front and rear tracking should be checked as well as the various bushes - assuming that you have checked things like tyre pressures and binding brakes.

The brakes aren't binding so they are not the problem. I did wonder if it might be a 4 wheel alignment problem, so I've booked it for a check over. My dealer said this could be caused by 'uneven' tyre wear, but they are all OK and less than 8 months old with only 5k on them at best!

I'd agree with Ted, and check the suspension / subframe bushes. If they're older than about 4 years, then they probably need replacing.
It could be tracking also, but you're getting that checked ...
Is there any reaction under heavy acceleration ?
Steve

The car's a March 2000 model with less than 24k on the clock (just realised that not far short of 4 years, yikes!!). However, I would be surprised if the bushes were at fault yet but I'll get them checked just in case. I suppose the hydrogas suspension could be the cause but the car is sitting evenly I'll get it checked as well.

Keep the the thoughts coming.

take it in
get the geometry checked!

I have a similar problem, but it only pulls to the left under braking.

I had the tracking done at Micheldever a month or so ago when I got 4 new boots.

Was told by them that both my camber and castor are out, but that they are no adjustable on the MGF. Apparently my camber on the front is like this

/-/ rather than - or /-/. He said this was probably why it would pull to the left. Can't remember what the castor angle was, but he pumped up the hydragas and fiddled with the ride hight to get the best settings for the unadjustable camber and castor.

Any ideas on why my settings are off and what might have casued it and any way to sort it. Thoughts are that only something like a full Techspeed job would do it?

Probably built that way - I have one rear wheel which is outside spec on camber, and always has been, even after the TechSpeed conversion (lowering the car may make the problem worse). I thought Mike Satur had some adjustable units that might fix this ?
I should also add that my car doesn't pull to either side on braking - though it did before it went to TechSpeed !

Thanks for the comments. It looks like the offside rear wheel bearings have gone. Had the up for 4 wheel alignment and discovered a hugh amount of play in the wheel. So my £38 alignment has just gone up by £150 - ah well as long as it solves the problem....
