MG MGF Technical - VHPD 190 heads available...
| From the Elise general board. Hmm, 500 quid for a new head, new paint or a new interior? Bum - too many dreams, too little cash! :o( >> Owen Geddes, Bovingdon, owen@race-speed.com I have just got access to a number of items - all of them are in stock now (I have seen them and touched them!) and can be supplied by Wednesday 19th June. If people are interested please mail me - I can't reply to mails until Sunday though as I am out of the office for two days. 10 * VHPD heads. £515 each inc VAT. These are brand new heads with valve guides and seats. They have not been worked on so if you want big power you will want to have them ported. Three are already spoken for if I buy them. If anybody wants more than one I may be able to give more discount. 5 * KV6 DTH throttle bodies. Brand new as fitted to the original 190 VHPD engine. £315 each inc VAT. Also one used set at £275 inc VAT. 1 * Exige throttle bodies. Used as fitted tot he Exige. £345 inc VAT. Can also supply full set of gaskets for the heads (head, inlet and exhaust) for £35 inc VAT. 2 * PTP 165 kits. Both used. Includes head (built with cams) - the head is a VHPD item. Both have VVC inlet manifold and EFi ECU. One has done 3k miles as a test car. The second has done 15k miles but has brand new vvc inlet and mechanical lifters. Am open to offers - but sensible please! None of the above includes delivery - buyer collects (from Hemel Hempstead) or I can arrange dleivery on top. Payment by credit card etc.. as usual. cheers! | you don't half like giving me ideas...... :D I'm sure 165 bhp would be enough, but 190 hmmm;) |

| :o) Phew, I'm glad that I'm not the only one seriously tempted by these prices and toys! The heads are bare - so cams and valves plus other inevitable sundries are required. You might want to consider a few additional items - such as the throttle bodies Owen mentioned, porting and gas flowing the head for even more power... ... which may be unnecessary depending on the ultimate specification of the engine you want. I don't know whether anyone has tried putting on the VVC inlet manifold and injection system to the VHPD head, and see if it all ran with MEMS - but I'd have thought that there would be a good chance that the whole thing would work together - albeit, not quite putting out 190 bhp ;o) I'd have *guessed* that 170 bhp is realistic, along with a better torque curve (better suited to an MGF anyway) thanks to the longer intake tract in the inlet manifold. An early swop to an Emerald M3D ECU would be recommended, because MEMS really would be out of its depth with this head fitted with a decent cam. Of course, once one has a VHPD head, and got it running with standard MGF parts, one can then look to the future and add the other expensive bits - like those mentioned before - to liberate the full power potential and beyond... to 220 bhp, say ;o) |

| All a little too late for me, just gone down the Stage 1 gas flowed head route (looked at Owen's site but couldn't wait for the quoted delivery times). Typical something like this happens immediately after i can make use of it! SF |
