MG MGF Technical - VVC with DVA K06a (Just wanted to share)

Just wanted to share my experience with this kit. On my last dyno session my MGF MPi, converted to VVC with DVA Power K06a kit + common "bolt on" options made 164bhp at the wheels ! This should be in the range of 190bhp engine which I think is very good !
My car left an MG ZS180 behind by 10bhp :) Stock cars make stock power on this bench so I'm quite sure the bench is accurate.

Here's the curve:

difference with the 160 run is I added a Piper sports kat instead of the bypass and upped fuel pressure from 3,3 to 3,5 bar.

Some pictures of the build are here:

I did the build myself but most credit goes to Dave Andrews who did an amazing job on porting the head and supporting me by email !

For a change not a topic about a problem but something realy positive ;)

Great Job Sander !
My very congrats and thanks for sharing the pictures :)

Lots of useful hints ... and so many open questions.

Great pictures and figures, well done. I'm glad I won't meet you on a track day!!!!!.

I take it you want to know what it is ? I had oil in the cooling water, even after a former HGF repair. Dave suggested it could be a pourous/cracked oilway and supplied this sleeve which I "glued" into place with locktite. On more oil in the water since this addition :)
Sander

I must say thatīs quite an achievement on standard MEMS2J. Great job done!

What's that oilpipe thingy good for ?

you missed Sanders reply:

I have the standard worries about thinning the oil channels*, but if this makes a head work then it's all good :)

*i is an engineer, but my bottlenecks are between processors and memory - so I'll have to trust someone who does this physical stuff as a job

Absolutely brilliant Sander - great work! Another DVA triumph of a head of course, but that is not to undersell all your hard work!

Great pictures too - and the torque/ power curve shape is truly impressive :o)

Thanks for all the great replies !

@Will, I'm an electronics (hardware) engineer so I know a ting or two about resistance too. Dave told me he repaired quite a few K-series using this method without any problems so I'm quite confident about this modification. At least the oil disappeared from the water :)

If you have any problems with (routing?) memories and processors in hardware designs please let me know ;)

Fuel pressure from 3,0 to 3,5 bar.

Sorry I can't read that I'm from the Netherlands ;)

Anyway, I chose to modify the OEM regulator because I don't like altering (adding) fuel lines. They are just too critical if you ask me ;) Also adjustable regulators (probably the cheaper ones, not FSE) are know to change pressure over time.

Here's how I did it:
http://mgf.dennisfleurbaaij.com/album56/IMG_0710_Large

After squizing it a little as per picture I put it in a spare manifold which I have modified with a Schrader valve on the fuel-in connector. I gently add compressed air and verify the point at which the FPR opens.

I started with 3,3bar when I put the engine together but this was not enough. 3,5 bar is better but I think 3,7 wouldn't even be a problem looking at the curve.
