MG MGF Technical - Wandering VVC
Hi all, New here and don't own an F.. but one of the girls in the office here does and it's got a bit of a problem. ( she's fit so obviously I have offered to help ;-) ) I've had a drive and it's a very disconcerting feeling, at 60-80 mph the car wanders about quite badly! You can feel it pull a bit one way too under acceleration. It's only started doing it recently. Checking the tyres the back near side has some odd wear, the outside edge is pretty slick but inside the tread is good still, it's the only tyre that shows any odd wear. Are they any known problems that cause this effect? I have told her she needs a new tyre and to get the geometry checked while she's at it but suspect something more like a knackered balljoint/bush etc.. Any ideas? |

Sounds like a rear bush is on the way out, the car will stear slightly with the thottle, fix it with new polybushes. |
Will Munns |
Have to agree rear bushes and then a 4wheel alignment. |
Andrew Regens |
60-80mph wandering may be just front end lift at speed - Get a splitter. |
Russell Parslow |
Fix the problem first, upgrade later. |

I'm defending you really..] P.S. Pictures welcome.. |

Turns out to be a knackered wheelbearing and Hub... Ouch! |

Had the same problem as the bird in your office, turned out to be the outside rear wheel bearing. Have you checked the tyre pressures ? |
Troy Stone |
She needed a new flange too.... ;-) Well she found it funny! |
