MG MGF Technical - Watch that back end

I had an accident on monday
driving normally i put the power on to early exiting a bend to climb a hill and lost control of the rear end causing the car to mount the kerb and scrape the passenger side down a wall..
ive had the car assesed and the whole of the passenger side panels are to be replaced..
the worry is the accident centre is having trouble loacating parts... 3 quarter panels are hard to find, 2 left in the country.. what do i do when the car is repaired... whats happening with spares etc..
P.S my rear tyres are continental premium contacts..

alex, it's been like that for the last 5 years at least, so the clapose of MGR has had very little effect on the market!

Try the specialists that advertise on this forum;-)
mike

mike,

Are pattern parts availabe?
Will Munns

Alex (and you have a fine name if I might say so), you might want to consider doing an airfield day sometime.

Most little mishaps like that happen due to shutting the power off in panic when the back end breaks loose. If you keep the front wheels pointing where you want to go and hold a neutral throttle it will drift back into line in its own good time. Not something I'd recommend learning on the road, but definitely something worth learning.

thanks for the comments lads..
To mike , the insurance is dealing with repairs so finding the panels is out of my hands... (new panels only..
To will, acording to the accident centre nobody has the rights to make pattern panels yet...still ongoing sarga with mgr..
To Alex, cheers mate could do with lessons just tell me when and where, dont want to crash again ,may need to get my panel beating hammer out....
alex

I did most of my learning in an Elise which was 'frisky' to say the least! www.bookatrack.com and www.1stlotus.com do airfield days; there are probably others near you, but once you've got the theory in your head it's more a case of just practicing; reprogramming your brain to do what most people consider unnatural and keep your foot down when the back end goes walkabout.

Ah, Welcome to the wonderful world of power oversteer !
Challenger

You did not say whether you have an F or TF but either way L/H rear quarters are in stock. ( Plenty )so the repairers will have no problems.

MGF/TF body parts were not made by MGR at Longbridge anyway.
X-Part

To Alex
Thanks mate .. will try that out.. but i think i got it right but run out of road... but to learn proper would be great..
Thanks for the input X part...
