MG MGF Technical - Water feature

My MGF has developed what can only be described as a 'water feature'.

There appears to be some water 'trapped' inside the car in the front left hand side, behind the dash or inside the wheel arch or something.

This creates an all at sea sloshing effect when stopping and starting.

Does anybody know what this is? How it has happened? And how I can fix it?

All information gratefully received.

Worried owner

If you login as a member (very easy and free) you will be able to search the archive. Loads of hits on water leaks. There is a history of water entry on left side.

Also try http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/ and scroll through Technical & DIY until you get to water Leaks.

OK, so now logged in as member.

Thanks for the pictures JohnP, I have had a look through and the carpet is wet as in your example - but does this problem have a history of having the sloshing noise as well?

At the beginning of this year the car went over some rocks left in the road by lunatic kids, and as a result has had the 'skid pan' replaced at the dealer.

Has the dealer managed to cover over some important drainage holes?

more lightly they are blocked with gunge, usually from rotting leaves. Sounds like your problem is inside the air intake for the cabin. Do you have lots of trouble demisting the windows by chance?

I've not ever heard anything ever quite described like this before Wayne... are the carpets wet on that side of the car?
