MG MGF Technical - WATER PUDDLE MYSTERY???
Dear All, I have twice, both times in multi storey car parks, noticed that when i have come back to my car after an hour or 2, then a visible puddle of water had appeared at the rear of the car on the right hand side just under the bumper. Both times i panicked and checked the coolant, both times the levels were ok (they have never moved since i bought the car), i looked around for other signs of water leaks, but couldn't find any? The puddle of water didnt have any coolant visible in it.......so it remains a mystery as to where it came from??? Regards Andrea |

Any traces of antifreeze in the accumilated water puddle Andrea? Also, is the ride hight equal on both sides of the car? |

Where does the aircon vent to (implicit do you have aircon?) |
Will Munns |
no air con facility and no, no antifreeze present, and the ride height seems to be ok?? how would i be able to find out for sure regarding the ride height? measure it i presume? |

Fingers, an equal number on each side between the top of the tyre and the wheel arch should show any diffrence. |
Will Munns |
ok, thanks i will check! |

But it sounds more like water trapped in the bodywork draining out once the car is stationary (was it raining?) or ice trapped somewhere melting once the car had sat for a while? |
Will Munns |
Got there before me Will. Mine does that too and it would be a fair guess that it was trapped rain water. If it wasn't raining then I would be very confused especially if coolant levels were normal. |

Could be the water was trapped in the boot lid and then ran out into the gutter around the boot edge when you opened the boot? From there it drained onto the floor while you were away. Bruce |

thanks guys, i didn't think it was a serious problem, but thought it better to check! |
