MG MGF Technical - What other car is the F starter motor used on?

I read earlier that it was a common unit, any ideas what other cars its used on as thats the next thing I have to buy? (and thankfully the engine wont have to be coming out!)

Many many thanks in advance,

Julian, have one in stock if you are stuck, saw the same thing happen with a customer from the Netherlands, very puzzeling when the engine locks up after work completed!!!

Hi Mike
Thanks for that. But thankfully I'm not stuck, just trying to save a few pennies! A place local to me has a couple in stock so I should be ok. I was trying to find one at a breakers you see, not many F's there!

Does Ģ57+VAT sounds reasonable?

Thanks

Hi all,
donīt want to be a pain in the ... BUT is this not something that could be serious ? When removing the head for change of HG the whole clamping system of the engine is released. There is a specific warning NOT to turn the engine over at that state due to possible damage of bearings and upset of the liners. After re-assembly the engine still seems to be tight - to a degree that the starter cover breaks due to stresses involved..
If I was in this situation I would get the sparkplugs out and get a good grip around the pulley and just note what torque needed to turn the engine either by hand or with help of a spanner...

Regards , Carl.

Hi Carl

I'll quiz them on it and put it to them when I see the car again later.

The car was not turned over when it was apart though.

And it was working fine again for a while, several starts later it failed - or woudl that still fit in with your theory?

Anyway, as I said, i'll put it too them.

Thanks for that - I hope you're wrong though!!!

57 + Vat sounds OK for me. Have my second hand on the advert page with 150 EURO, though. *g* I think I should decrease to getting rid of it ;)

Just sold the second hand alternator for 150 quid + p+p.
