MG MGF Technical - What, No Haynes!!
| Surprised to find that there is no 'Haynes' manual for the MGF. I would normally do most maintenace and minor repairs, but not being an 'expert' certainly need the sort of guidelines the Haynes usually provides. How do you guys get on without one or is there an alternative publication? Also can anyone help with an Owners Handbook, unfortunately the previous owners of my 1996 VVC model lost the original? | Not sure why there is no Haynes manual, they certainly sold enough MGFs to justify one (70,000+). But to paraphrase Dieter, "Why would you want one when you have the internet?" Post a question, get an answer, an Email, search the archives, a web site. Fairly instantanious and there aren't many jobs that have not been done by someone on this BBS. SF |

| Handbook is available from Rover - as part of the 'Literature pack' , about £18 |

| >How do you guys get on without one or is there an alternative publication? > "Why would you want one when you have the internet?" LOL !! :) Lots of engineers and craftsmen with different skills online and this BBS includes about 5 years experiance already in the archives :)))) Owners manuals part numbers, not much different contends IMO. RCL0131GER 1996 RCL0200GER 1997 >> applicable as well for 1996 RCL0332ENG 1999 >> also not much different (IMO) workshop manual RCL0051ENG 2000 MG Rover MGF Workshop Manual 8 th Edition But 3rd Edition is enough for a 1996 made up to 1999. | Does anyone know whether the TF one is out yet? If so I might sell my MGF ver 7 bought Aug 01 for £20 + p/p. |

| Ian - I'd be willing to take the manual off you if you decide to sell - I've had one on order with MGOC (along with other bits and pieces) for nearly four months now! |

| Hi folks, I am about to get my 98 MGF started for this summer and want to do some maintance first. As I understood from your thread there are not much maintance books on the market for our baby. Dieter: These workshop manuals, can I order them at my local dealer ? Ian: This MGR manual you mentioned, is this the owner manual you receive with the car or something else ? Enjoy your rides Meikell |

| You buy the manual from a dealer. Dieter gave the part numbers. It is about 4cm thick double sided loose page book. |

| DOHH ! Missed to mention that the last letters relate to the language version. RCL0051GER is German RCL0051ENG is English RCL0051... I believe 8 languages availiable so far. But no Thai, Chinese or Russian ;) |

| Thanks for all the info guys, just got a full 'Rover/MG' manual (£40) from B&G in Baldock (What a great garage, very helpful and well stocked) Local Rover/MG dealer said he could get one for £38 but has had back order for over 90 units since BMW sell-off!!! Seems there is a problem with Rover/MG/Uni-part stocks full stop since BMW sold the business. Apparrently they cancelled all stock orders just before the sale to Partco! I have found parts availability very hit and miss, some things arrive next day others are likely to take weeks. Thank goodness for the specialist! |
