MG MGF Technical - Wheels

Hi all
A friend is in the process of buying a 1.8i F on an R plate, he has noted that three wheels are the normal silver colour but one is in dark gun metal grey but of the same style as the other 3. The garage (non MGR)insist that the wheel is a standard fit part No RRC110470 that the previous owner has replaced it from another model of F probably damaged hence the replacement, can you guys advise.
cheers

MGF wheels were only ever available in one colour - a light silver. There are three exceptions to this - the gun metal coloured Ultra lightweight ma alloys and the similarly coloured multi-spoke 16" (both for the TF) and shadow chrome 11-spoke 16" wheels (again, TF).

If one of the wheels on your car is differently coloured, then I suspect that it has been resprayed at some time in its past.

What style wheel does the car have? It should have 6-spoke 15" wheels. See http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/group2/suspension/wheel_options_for_the_mgf.htm for more pictures...

Is they 15" 6 spoke style? The gunmetal finish is typically used on the ultra lightweight rims (which are 16"). If the wheels look/measure the same, it's possible that one has just been recoated a different colour at some point.

Oh dear, bad grammar and typing too slowly - must try harder ;-)

Thanks Rob and Mike
I thought it odd that the wheel was a different colour. Mike who gives a monkeys about bad grammer, I appreciate the help from this BBS

Had a look at the wheel listings on the web site.
http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/group2/suspension/wheel_options_for_the_mgf.htm

I think the first wheel description needs updating for the wheels "15" 8-spoke 1.8i MPi 1995-1999" as it shows a 6-spoke not a 8 spoke wheel?

It probably should read "15" 6-spoke" ?

Or have I had to many stouts's ?

:-)

Cheers,
Branko.

That's a typo I've been meaning to correct for eons Branko! LOL

hi all
I might have a set of standard 1.8i wheels good average condition ....going cheap soon! with two new but cheap tyres on front(less than 500 miles)(chamipino or something like that ....i never herd of them before) and well worn but still legal rears! allso a single 205x50x15 goodyear gt touring(?) tyre with still good tread(about 5mm). kept after changing all round to eagle f1s.
open to offers!
regards
jonathan
i might put them on e-bay if i can get my pc to work propperly!

Jonathan,
I'll have the single 205/50 from you for my spare.

I have 205/50's all round and I can dump my OE spare, which is unused, if anyone wants it, it is, of course, the 175/65.14

Bit of a problem with distance though for a tyre, if anyone is nearer they are welcome.

Do you attend any events in the South East, we could maybe meet up.

By the way does anybody have an 8 spoke 15 inch wheel, in reasonable condition so I have a matching spare, with or without tyre ? Let me know the cost please.

To BN howarth.

If your friend would like to upgrade to a set of new and unused MGF 16 inch Cup/Abingdon alloys let me know as I have a set of 4 in my garage that you can have for £275.

By the way I'm in lancashire too.

David AP - if you've still got them I could get very interested and could collect in the next couple of weeks! Would suit my proposed renovation plan a treat...

Hi David
Thanks for your reply. I will be heading north on Monday 13 June, and could
arrange to call by at a convenient time and hopefully collect the wheels
then. If you let me know your address I can go onto streetmap to find you.
Would mid-afternoon be OK? I could make it later if you'd rather.

Mike
PS your email address bounced my message!

Mike

Don't know why your e-mail bounced as I've had another one from someone else interested in the wheels however you're first in the queue.

Please try e-mailing again and I'll give you my 'phone number.

By the way I'm only 10 minutes from J27 on the M6 or I could actually meet you at the junction.
