MG MGF Technical - Where have my gears gone?
Enjoying our first Motorkhana of the year of which two patterns had reversing elements, I ended up without reverse gear. On the way home I could not select 5th but after a while the linkage seemed to move back in to place and 5th and reverse were found BUT only one try in ten. So where do they go . |

Andrew, Check that all your gear linkages are tight. Start with the ones under the handbrake lever. Make sure that the gear mechanism which is pivoted onto the car body is tight. I catually found mine a little loose. Work your way to the back. Especially check the 2 gear linkages that are held onto the gear box by 2 brackets and a pivot link. If these are not set correclty, then your seletion of 5th and reverse gears will be affected. Do you have a workshop manual? If so, there are pics in there to show what I mean. If drop us an email. Branko, Yep I have a workshop manual, but today being a public holiday I felt I needed a rest from MG's, so I played with my latest toy an Audi S2 230hp and all wheel drive !!!!!. Andrew |

It's because she has been naughty again that I thought she may respond to some harsh treatment. The only problem is that her replacement is not a soft top and does not have a real personality and she knows it. LOL. |
